Georgia Department of Community Health Selects Truven Health Analytics to Develop Statewide Health Information Exchange

HIE Integrates Wide Ranging Data from Providers, CMS, and Health Plans

Ann Arbor, MI - The Georgia Department of Community Health announced today that it has selected Truven Health Analytics as their partner to build and implement a statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE) — the Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN).

The GaHIN exchange will utilize Truven Health to provide clinicians throughout the state with a longitudinal patient history at the point of care by securely capturing real-time clinical and administrative data from electronic medical records, healthcare claims, CMS and other sources. It will be the fifth statewide HIE supported by Truven Health’s platform.

“We are pleased to partner with the state of Georgia to help develop a statewide health information exchange,” said Mike Boswood, Truven Health Analytics president and CEO. “The GaHIN will create an expansive data network that gives care providers the critical information they need to improve clinical outcomes on a significant scale.”

The Truven Health platform is powered by CareEvolution and will implement advanced industry standards (for example, NwHIN DIRECT and NwHIN CONNECT – IHE PIX, XDS, XCA/XCPD, and ATNA), to create a tailored exchange for healthcare stakeholders throughout Georgia.

“We selected Truven Health Analytics because of their proven track record and consultative approach to working with us to meet our specific needs to create interoperability among disparate, unaffiliated healthcare organizations within Georgia,” said Kelly Gonzalez, MS Director, Division of Health IT, State Health IT coordinator, Georgia Department of Community Health.  “This partnership brings us one step closer to reaching our goal of full connectivity and true coordinated care with just one connection.”
