Supporting the Care Community with Real-Time Patient Data

There are many different organizations involved in providing care to individuals – some of them obvious, such as a physician or hospital, and some not so obvious, such as CMOs, long-term care facilities and even ambulances.

In order to ensure patients receive the best possible care, the Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN) connects a wide range of care providers giving providers access to timely patient information at the point of care, regardless of where that might be.

Supporting Veteran Care

GaHIN is connected with the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), facilitating information exchange between VA and non-VA providers in Georgia. Veterans often see specialists and other providers in their community for specialized care. GaHIN provides access for those community providers to the veteran’s health records. Additionally, their community health records can be incorporated into their VA health records.

Benefits to veterans include:

  • Reduced burden of managing paper records
  • Immediate access to healthcare information
  • Reduced chances of duplicate tests
  • Increased safety with a more complete medical record, including medications and allergies
  • Savings of time and money
  • Improve health outcomes and care quality
