Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN) Board member, Warren Hutchings, M.D., of the Atlanta-based Georgia State Medical Association (GSMA), was awarded the Distinguished Service Medallion for his numerous years of dedication to the Association. As the outgoing chair of the GSMA, Dr. Hutchings was recognized for his many years of dedication to the Association’s growth, development and promotion, at the Association’s annual convention at Hilton Head Island, SC, on June 12, 2014.

The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) has selected four of Atlanta’s most outstanding health IT industry leaders as the recipients of this year’s MAC Phoenix Awards. The awards recognize significant contributions to the growth of the health IT industry in Georgia. Winners were announced at the fourth annual Health IT Leadership Summit November 12 at Atlanta’s Fox Theater.
The Board of Trustees of the National Medical Association has chosen Warren S. Hutchings, M.D., to be a recipient of the NMA 2013 Practitioner of the Year Award. The Award was conferred on Saturday, July 27, 2013, as the National Medical Association (NMA) convened its 2013 Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly in Toronto, Canada.

An experimental health information exchange being tested in the north Georgia city of Rome is helping Koren Sinnock keep her travel plans. A breast cancer patient, Sinnock had been reluctant to travel very far from her doctors until the new program promised to provide access to her medical records from anywhere she might happen to be – including the beach.
